Bookish Holiday Shopping Guide 2019

Posted November 20, 2019 by Sara | Novel Novice 0 Comments

Every year, I share the same old advice: it’s almost impossible to buy books as gifts for book-lovers because (1) you don’t know what they already have and (2) book lovers often tend to buy themselves books.

Gift cards for retailers that sell books are ALWAYS a great gift idea.

But bookish merch is another great way to gift book lovers something they will use and cherish.

For this year’s guide, I’m focusing on just a select few of my favorite bookish shops. Check for discount codes throughout the post to save on your shopping splurges!

Icey Designs

Icey Designs is one of my go-to shops for gorgeous bookish goodies, especially for gifting. Everything is so beautiful and packaged wonderfully for gifting. Stop by this shop for candles (in gorgeous 8oz jars or adorable 2oz tins), one-of-a-kind enamel pins, hand-lettered journals (with your choice of inside pages), unique pencil sets, and more.

Icey Designs is on Etsy, but shop their website for the most robust collection of all their merch. (The Etsy shop is more limited.)

Three Knocks Candles

Laura, the face behind Three Knocks Candles, has such a gift for scents and makes some of the most delightful, easy-to-burn bookish inspired candles around.

I’m especially fond of her genre collection for gifting, as you can pick these out based on the recipient’s favorites. The scents are all amazing, and the candles burn beautifully. Get them in 8oz or 4oz jars.

Love You More Studio

Book sleeves became a huge trend a few years ago, and while I was a skeptic at first, I quickly became a fan once I got my first sleeve. How did I live without these??? I especially love book sleeves for travel, because no longer do I have to worry about my books getting banged up inside suitcases. But I also slip my book into a sleeve anytime I leave the house, to keep it protected from the elements, unexpected gunk on public surfaces, and getting knocked about in my purse or in the car.

Love You More Studio is a family business, and I love the folks behind the scenes so much. They really do put a lot of care and love into their sleeves, which are beautifully made, and their customer service is quite excellent.

Novelly Yours Candles

This is my other go-to candle shop. Brittany makes candles full-time, and the turnaround on her orders is lightning fast. The scents are always excellent, and the labels are simple and lovely, but not too pretty where you feel like you can’t burn the candles. (Candles are MEANT to be burned!) She has candles for specific fandoms, as well as an assortment of generally bookish candles.

Check out her Happy + Home collection for an assortment of non-bookish candles, with both seasonal and year-round offerings.

Dreamy & Co

Your one-stop shop for bookmarks, enamel pins, prints, and book sleeves. I especially love how affordable the bookmarks (both regular and magnetic) are from Dreamy & Co. These make perfect stocking stuffers, or package toppers. They’re also great little gifts to slip into an envelope with a holiday card to mail to your bookish friends who live far away.

Use code NOVEL10 to save on all regular purchases.

You can also check out the monthly Dreamy Box for more great merch. The box is only $20 per month, and can be purchased as a one-time item, or a monthly subscription. (Please note: discount code does NOT work on the boxes.)
