Today, we have a super fun Q&A with one of our favorite authors Kami Garcia. You know her as the co-author of the Beautiful Creatures series, and the author of Unbreakable and Unmarked. We’re super stoked about some of her upcoming releases, too — including the contemporary romance The Lovely Reckless and her YA X-Files novel Agent of Chaos. (Hellooooo, teenage Fox Mulder!)
This weekend, Kami will be at the RT Convention & Book Fair — and she’s just ONE of many amazing authors who will be there, including a truly incredible line-up of YA authors. Honestly, I’m resisting the urge to go book a last minute flight to Las Vegas next weekend because THAT’S how amazing this line-up is. And we’ve got all the deets on it at the bottom of this post — so keep reading.
Basically, if you love books and meeting authors, you NEED to be at this event.
But first, a fun little flash question Q&A with Kami to help you learn more about her, and what she’s working on next for you, her readers. Then you can chat her up about her favorite emoji and what she likes to drink when you see her at RT. Thanks for stopping by, Kami!

My first contemporary romance, The Lovely Reckless, releases on October 4th. It’s about a girl named Frankie whose life is spiraling out of control. After a major lapse of judgment, she gets kicked out of private school and has to move in with her dad, an undercover cop on an auto theft task force. Frankie transfers to public school and falls for a guy who is an illegal street racer. It’s full of tension, kissing, and street racing — and I’m so excited for people to read it! Fierce Reads just posted the first five chapters HERE.
Right now, I’m working on another contemporary romance and The X-Files Origins: Agent of Chaos, a YA novel about Fox Mulder as a teen. My friend and fellow author Jonathan Maberry is writing about Dana Scully as a teen, in The X-Files Origins: The Devil’s Advocate. I’m a huge X-Files fan, so writing an origin story for Mulder is a surreal. The X-Files Origins novels release in January 2017.

What a neat event! Kami participated in the inaugural #30Authors event and is great, so I’m excited to see her on your site!
Oh how cool! We featured Kami (and her BEAUTIFUL CREATURES co-author Margie) back when their first book was initially published. It came out right around the same time Novel Novice went live. We’ve worked with both of them multiple times now; it’s been fun seeing their success just take off over the last several years.
