Favorite CoFA Spoilers: The Dirty Sexy Alley Scene!

Today marks the beginning of a new, seven-day feature here at Novel Novice and at Mundie Moms. Now that City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare has been out for a few weeks, we’re breaking out the spoilers — AND we’ll have a chance for you to win a copy of the book signed by Cassie herself! Today, we’re kicking things off with what is easily the book’s steamiest scene — better known as “The Dirty Sexy Alley Scene” (or DSAS for short).

The nickname “Dirty Sexy Alley Scene” (and subsequent Twitter hashtag #DSAS) first came about when Cassie herself tweeted a teaser scene from City of Fallen Angels featuring part of the steamy exchange between Jace and Clary that takes place on pages 184-189 in CoFA. The DSAS only became more notorious when Cassie and Vania, who created the book trailers for CoFA, released the short video featuring this scene that Simon & Schuster deemed too steamy for the actual book trailer.

“Kiss me then,” she whispered, and he pressed his mouth against hers, their hearts slamming together through the thin layers of wet fabric that divided them. And she was drowining in it, in the sensation of him kissing her; of rain everywhere, running off her eyelashes; of letting his hands slide freely over the wet, crumpled fabric of her dress, made thin and clinging by the rain. It was almost like having his hands on her bare skin, her chest, her hips, her stomach; when he reached the hem of her dress, he gripped her legs, pressing her harder back against the wall while she wrapped them around his waiste.

He made a noise of surprise, low in his throat, and dug his fingers into the thin fabric of her tights. Not unexpectedly, they ripped, and his wet fingers were suddenly on the bare skin of her legs.
