Sophie’s Seashell Scramble (Book Review)

Many thanks to Candlewick Press for the review copy of Sophie’s Seashell Scramble by Educational Insights.

Sophie the otter needs help finding seashells with matching patterns in a lift-the-flap board book based on a best-selling children’s game.

Down on the ocean floor, Sophie the otter is collecting pairs of seashells. She’s hoping to find two of each kind–purple shells covered in triangles, green shells with squiggles, red shells with squares, and yellow shells with dots–and she needs little readers’ help! Inspired by a popular game, and with plenty of flaps to explore, this fun, sturdy board book in the Sneaky Snacky Squirrel series strengthens matching skills as well as color and shape recognition.

There are few things my kids love more than lift-the-flap books right now, so we were all very excited to receive this book.

Based on the best-selling board game, the book invites little readers to lift the flaps on each page to help Sophie the otter find marching pairs of seashells.

When I read this with the twins, we had a lift-the-flap scramble, because they were both so eager. They loved the interactive element, and the spinner feature on the last page. I loved the sweet illustrations and the fact that it entertained them for over 20 minutes. Win/win.
