Have you seen the new Maleficent: Mistress of Evil movie yet? My husband & I went last week, and I think I liked it even more than the first movie — AND it’s gotten me even more excited to dive into Heart of the Moors by Holly Black, an original Maleficent story that takes place between the two live action movies. (It’s NOT a tie-in novel though, so it can be read even if you haven’t seen the movies.)

Thanks to the folks at Disney Books, I’ve got an awesome prize pack to giveaway in celebration of Heart of the Moors, including a copy of the book and a Maleficent top. Keep reading for all the details, and to learn more about Heart of the Moors, in stores now.

From New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes a captivating original novel set between Disney’s Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in which newly-queened Aurora struggles to be the best leader to both the humans and Fair Folk under her reign; her beau, Prince Phillip, longs to get to know Aurora and her kingdom better; and Maleficent has trouble letting go of the past.

I like Maleficent but my favorite is Yzma from Emperor’s New Groove. I think Maleficent was misunderstood in some versions of the tale. Jolie’s portrayal is one of my favorites.

  2. Ashley

My favorite thing about Maleficent is that it’s something my 4 yo niece (aka by bff) and I both love. She may be a little young for this one now but in a couple years I would share this book with her. Thanks for the chance to win 🙂

  3. Shakeia Rieux

What isn’t there to love about Maleficent!?! I love everything about her. My favorites are Cruella De Vil, Ursula, and Queen of Hearts.

  4. Audrey Stewart

I think it’s because Angelina Jolie is so good at this part. We loved the first movie and we will be seeing this latest one this weekend.

  5. John Smith

“Tell us what you love about Maleficent, and your other favorite Disney villains.” Hmm–I think the wicked queen in “Snow White” would be one of my favorites! But Maleficent does seem very wicked!

  6. Sabrina

I love that villains are now getting to tell their sides of the story in retellings! Maleficent’s anger had to have a bigger backstory.

  7. Sarah

Honestly i love Maleficent mostly because my dad thinks if i was any disney character i would be her. Im not even mad about it, despite wishing i was more princessy, because shes steong and she knows what she wants. I respect that!

  8. Donna

I love Maleficent’s style and attitude! My other favorite villains are Ursula and the Evil Queen from Snow White.

  9. Ken C

I love that Maleficent is a leader who cares for those she feels called to protect. My fave villain is Rattigan from The Great Mouse Detective

  10. Tabathia B

I think she is misunderstood, because she had a really good heart but she was betrayed and deformed by someone she trusted

  11. Mya Murphy

Maleficent is SO clever and smart and doesn’t let anyone drag her down.. I love most villians.. More than the heroes.
