So, it’s no secret that I have a Major Thing for bookish candles – and one of my favorite shops (in fact the first one I ever bought bookish candles from) is Icey Designs, run by designer, author, and fellow blogger Hafsah Faizal.
I adore pretty much everything in the Icey Designs shop – pencils, journals, enamel pins, pillow covers, and more – but the candles are especially dreamy. Since bookish candles are such a big trend these days (and who’s complaining? I love them!), I thought I’d take the time today to share my top 5 favorite candles from Hafsah’s shop.
This candle will have you proclaiming, “Wakanda Forever!” Inspired by the titular character of Marvel’s Black Panther movie and comic books, this is a warm masculine scent that reminds me of a spicy cologne.
Just like the beloved pirate/privateer prince it’s named after, this candle is bright, fresh, and reminiscent of the open ocean. Inspired by Nikolai Lantsov from Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Verse books, this candle lovingly captures the character’s spunk and spirit.
This was the first candle I ever really fell in love with, and while I have found some new favorites, it’s still one of my go-to scents. It smells like outdoor woods, and while it’s a little reminiscent of Christmas trees, it’s not at all a Christmassy scent. It’s woodsy, fresh, and masculine.
2) Audrey Rose
Surprisingly fresh and lightly sweet, this candle is inspired by the heroine of Kerri Maniscalco’s Stalking Jack the Ripper series. I don’t like overly fruity or floral candles, but this one hits all the right notes for a lovely and balanced scent that is fierce but feminine, just like Audrey Rose.
Inspired by one of my favorite villains ever, The Darkling from Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow & Bone trilogy, this candle is dark and mysterious and manly smelling. It’s totally enticing – just like the Darkling is when we first meet him, but minus that evil twist. Because this candle will never let you down.
SHOP & SAVE: Use the code NOVEL10 at check-out to save on these candles and any other purchases from the Icey Designs Etsy shop.
That code will also save you on the monthly boxes from Icey Designs. The May box, now on sale, is inspired by Sabaa Tahir’s An Ember in the Ashes series.
Full disclosure: I have not smelled/tried ALL of Hafsah’s candles, but I own and/or have smelled many of them – many more than are featured in this post. Some have been personal purchases; some were sent to me as part of rep packages in exchange for featuring them in photos/posts on my Instagram and other social media. All opinions in this post are my own.
