I totally missed the boat with Star Wars Reads Day this past weekend (October 10th), but I DO still have a cool belated feature for you … a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at Star Wars: Epic Yarns, the needle-felted retelling of the original three Star Wars movies in board book form, perfect for your littlest Jedi.

Each book re-tells the story of one of the movies in just 12, with 12 iconic scenes depicted in charming and incredibly detailed needle-felted scenes. (The formula is much the same as the Cozy Classics series — from the same authors — which retells classic novels in 12 words with 12 illustrations.)

Twin brothers Holman and Jack Wang worked on a detailed 1:7 scale to create each scene in the Star Wars: Epic Yarns series. Here are some behind-the-scenes looks at their work:

Aren’t these the COOLEST?!?! We’ll have reviews of the books soon. We think these are the perfect way to introduce your kids to the Star Wars galaxy, especially ahead of the new movie’s release later this year.

Here’s a closer look at how the books’ scenes & characters were created:
