(*Slight spoiler alert, if you haven’t yet read Timeless)

timelessWriting Timeless was like opening the lid to this fantasy time-travel universe in my mind—and after writing the first book, there was still so much I wanted to explore. Timeless hints at a mysticism and mythology behind time travel, and there is a dramatic reveal about the identity of the protagonist’s father, but since the love story was the heart of this book, I didn’t delve as much into the father’s story or the workings of time travel. Yet these were the elements that haunted me the most after I finished writing. I knew that Michele’s father deserved his own story, I’d envisioned an entire underworld of time travelers—and I was eager to share these plotlines with my readers. So while the sequel, Timekeeper, continues Michele & Philip’s story, it also expands in scope to reveal the world of the Time Society, the saga of Michele’s father—and the twisted ancestor who made it her mission to destroy them all.

From the get-go, I knew Timekeeper would be my most ambitious work to date. Sequels are known to be tough, but this particular sequel would introduce a hugely important character—the villain!—and pull readers into the brand-new world of the Time Society. So when my publishing team approached me about writing an eBook original short story to release months before Timekeeper, it seemed like the perfect way to set up all the new elements and take the readers from Book 1 to Book 2.

Writing “Secrets of the Time Society” was such a blessing, as it really set the tone for Timekeeper. It’s hard to imagine what the new book would have been like if I hadn’t written the eBook first! The chills and thrills of the eBook carry over into the sequel, and it really is a true “bridge” between Timeless and Timekeeper.

I hope you get a chance to check out “Secrets of the Time Society” before Timekeeper hits stores (January 8th!) and I’d love to hear what you think. Thanks for reading!

About Timeless and Timekeeper

Timeless (January 2011; available in hardcover, trade paperback and e-book editions)

When tragedy strikes Michele Windsor’s world, she is forced to uproot her life and move across the country to New York City, to live with the wealthy, aristocratic grandparents she’s never met. In their old Fifth Avenue mansion filled with a century’s worth of family secrets, Michele discovers a diary that hurtles her back in time to the year 1910. There, in the midst of the glamorous Gilded Age, Michele meets the young man with striking blue eyes who has haunted her dreams all her life – a man she always wished was real, but never imagined could actually exist. And she finds herself falling for him, into an otherworldly, time-crossed romance.

Michele is soon leading a double life, struggling to balance her contemporary high school world with her escapes into the past. But when she stumbles upon a terrible discovery, she is propelled on a race through history to save the boy she loves – a quest that will determine the fate of both of their lives.

This sequel to Timeless combines breathtaking romance with a tale of complex magic in a story that will have every reader believing in the transcendent power of love.

When Philip Walker appears as a new student in Michele Windsor’s high school class, she is floored. He is the love she thought she lost forever when they said goodbye during her time travels last century. Overjoyed that they can resume the relationship they had a lifetime ago, Michele eagerly approaches him and discovers the unthinkable: he doesn’t remember her. In fact, he doesn’t seem to remember anything about the Philip Walker of 1910.

Michele then finds her father’s journals, which tell stories of his time-traveling past. As she digs deeper, she learns about his entanglement with a mysterious and powerful organization called the Time Society and his dealings with a vengeful Windsor ancestor. Michele soon finds herself at the center of a rift over 120 years in the making, one whose resolution will have life-or-death consequences.
