Graphic Novel Review: FAME: The Cast of Twilight

Though it may not be for the traditional graphic novel reader, the latest edition of the FAME series from Bluewater Productions is sure to strike a powerful note with fans of The Twilight Saga.

FAME: The Cast of Twilight is in stores today, and combines four of Bluewater’s bestselling — and now sold-out issues. It features graphic novel-style biographies for actors Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — and Twilight author Stephenie Meyer.

I’m a huge fan of Bluewater’s FAME series both personally and as someone who loves finding new and creative ways to promote literacy and education. These graphic novels do both — and they entertain at the same time. FAME: The Cast of Twilight is a clever and unique way to encourage reluctant readers, while also showing that biographies aren’t always stale and boring — as some classrooms might lead young readers to believe.

For fans of The Twilight Saga, the graphic novel is also an ingenious way to learn more about the series’ author and the film adaptations’ most popular actors. Writers Kimberly Sherman and Ryan Burton cleverly weave together each individual’s personal story — both leading up to and looking beyond their involvement in the Twilight franchise. The book is also filled with gorgeous illustrations — which the cover only begins to hint at. (And that cover! Seriously, I would like to frame it and hang it on my wall! J’adore!)

And even if you’re not a Twilight fan, now is the perfect time to pick up a copy as a Christmas gift for the biggest Twi-hard in your life!

FAME: The Cast of Twilight and other graphic novels from Bluewater Productions can be purchased online at Amazon.com or at your local comic book shop. (Later this month look for new editions of FAME featuring the cast of “Glee,” Betty White and Lady Gaga — just to name a few!)
