Doughn’t Let Me Go by Teagan Hunter

A new book in the hilarious Slice series by Teagan Hunter is like a little pizza heaven. See what I did there? Doughn’t Let Me Go, the third book in the series, is out NOW and is easily my favorite one yet.

It was just supposed to be one night.

No kissing. No feelings. A wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am tangle in the sheets and we go our own ways.

Only it’s a small town, and I was bound to run into the irresistible Porter Jones again.

I just didn’t expect it to be at my job interview…which he’s conducting.

Now the live-in nanny to his adorable seven-year-old daughter, I’m doing my best to avoid falling for his charms.

Except it’s much harder than either of us anticipated.

What’s a few romps between friends?

Sounds simple, right?

Right…

I absolutely adored Dory and Porter, and their dazzling chemistry. But even more than that, I loved seeing them catch feelings for one another — and Dory catch feelings for Porter’s daughter (who tends to steal the show in any scene she appears in, she’s that great).

I don’t often read books in a single day, but Doughn’t Let Me Go is one that I simply couldn’t resist devouring. I just wanted more — more of these characters, more time with their story, and more of their interactions.

The Slice books are easily categorized as rom-com, and the humor is delicious, but Teagan Hunter also has a knack for weaving in some serious moments, which lend a heaviness and a heart to the humorous side. She gives the story meaning and impact, without sacrificing the lighter aspects of a rom-com. I love this balance, and it was exceptionally executed in Doughn’t Let Me Go, as I found myself really feeling for these characters and their backstories, and that made me root for their happily ever after even more.
