I’m so happy to be hosting a stop on the official blog tour for The Wicker King by K. Ancrum – a new creepy-cool thriller from Fierce Reads that comes out on Halloween, October 31st! The cover for this book is SO striking (and if you keep reading, you can peek an exclusive GIF from the cover shoot!) – the black and white image on a stark black background, with cool gold scribbles all over. I was instantly inspired to put together a Styled By Books inspired by the design, and here’s what I came up with:
I started with a basic black dress – this is one of my favorites from eShakti, as it’s knit, it has POCKETS, and combines my favorite below-knee length with multi-season friendly 3/4-length sleeves. The black dress mimics the stark black background of the book cover and works as a nice canvas to layer on a ton of gold jewelry, to represent the gold scribbles all over the cover.
I’ll be honest, I wish I’d had even more gold jewelry and bling to add on to my outfit, and maybe a gold belt, but I had to work with what I had in my closet. Still, I’m pleased with the overall effect.
Huge shout-out to my friend Autumn for taking these photos! See more bookish fashion inspiration from my previous Styled By Books posts HERE. And keep reading to learn more about The Wicker King.
The publisher also has a super cool, exclusive GIF for me to share with you from the cover shoot. Check it out:
The Wicker King is a psychological young adult thriller that follows two friends struggling as one spirals into madness.
When August learns that his best friend, Jack, shows signs of degenerative hallucinatory disorder, he is determined to help Jack cope. Jack’s vivid and long-term visions take the form of an elaborate fantasy world layered over our own—a world ruled by the Wicker King. As Jack leads them on a quest to fulfill a dark prophecy in this alternate world, even August begins to question what is real or not.
August and Jack struggle to keep afloat as they teeter between fantasy and their own emotions. In the end, each must choose his own truth.
The Wicker King is in stores October 31st.
