Top 10 Disney Villain Moments

10. “Mommy!”

I adore Disney’s Robin Hood, and the bratty villain Prince John has been as quotable to me in adulthood as he was in my childhood.

9. Hellfire

To this day, I still really love The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but I think it failed commercially because it was just the wrong source material for a children’s movie — and even the film itself contains some mature moments, not the least of which is Count Frollo’s overwhelming lust for Esmeralda. His big scene when he sings “Hellfire” is chilling and haunting, as he sings about how she’ll be his or burn.

8. “Off with their heads!”

One of the most iconic villains of all time, Disney’s version of the Queen of Hearts is perhaps the most memorable portrayal of this bloodthirsty monarch.

7. Itty Bitty Living Spaces

Jafar is conniving, nefarious, and power-hungry. Plus there’s that whole, “Sure, let’s make the princess my literal slave” thing. Is it even possible to pick his most wicked moment?

6. Friends on the Other Side

Perhaps one of the singularly most creepy moments in a Disney movie, Doctor Facilier from The Princess & the Frog still gives me a chill.

5. “The witch was singin’ with a stolen pair of pipes!”

Not only did she use Ariel to get back at her father, but then Ursula had to go and make the moves on her prince? Not. Cool.

4. These Endless Refrains

It’s certainly not his most villainous moment, but dang if Gaston doesn’t have one of the catchiest tunes of all the bad guys in Disney history.

3. If She Doesn’t Scare You …

Okay, maybe Gaston doesn’t have quite the catchiest tune, after all. Also, why is the lady obsessed with fur coats so terrifying?

2. Wrong Lever

The Emperor’s New Groove is one of THE most underrated Disney movies of all time, and Yzma is a big part of the movie’s charm.

1. That Dragon Transformation

But of all the fabulously wicked Disney villains, I think nothing will ever compare to the moment Maleficent transforms into a mother-effing dragon.

About the Series

The Disney Villains series by Serena Valentino explores how the antagonists in Disney movies became some of storytelling’s most iconic villains. In the first four Villains books, we see how the Evil Queen, the Beast, Ursula, and Maleficent fall into darkness, through the instigation of the mysterious Odd Sisters: Lucinda, Martha, and Ruby.

About Mistress of All Evil (Book #4, in stores now)

Why does Maleficent curse the innocent princess? What led to her becoming so filled with malice, anger, and hatred? Many tales have tried to explain her motives. Here is one account, pulled down from the many passed down through the ages. It is a tale of love and betrayal, of magic and reveries. It is a tale of the Mistress of All Evil.

  1. I had nightmares after the scene in Sleeping Beauty when Maleficent is sweeping through the dungeon past a skeleton reaching a bone arm to a water pitcher. She cackles and kicks it within reach and a spider crawls out. OMG!

  2. My favorite villain is probably Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, probably he’s so full of himself and he’s such a dork lol.
    Thanks for the chance!

  3. My favorite Villain is Maleficent. Ever since the new remake with Jolie I kinda fell in love with her.

  4. MY favorite is Ursula because she’s awesome. She’s not the typically skinny female you see in Disney.

  5. Maleficent has always been my favorite! She is the perfect amount of bad ass evil and then after seeing the new movie and understanding the other side. It made me love her that much more ?.

  6. There are so many great Disney villains. My favorite is Ursula. She is so brilliant of a character and her reasoning for villainy (albeit evil) is sound. She want what was rightfully hers. She may not of went about it in the right way but she was making the best out of her situation. My honorable mention is Frollo because he is the most human villain, he could be anybody.

  7. I think the evil queen from Snow White is my favorite Disney villain. She is one of the first “bad apples”. Lol!!

  8. Winifred Sanderson is my most favorite Disney villain because the witch has style and she is just so ruthless!

  9. In my mind there’s no bigger villain than Cruella DeVille. I mean, she’s going after puppies! Puppies for heaven’s sake! What could be worse than that? Thanks for the chance to win this great prize.

  10. I love Rattigan from the Great Mouse Detective, love Vincent Price singing and he is so diabolical too.

  11. My favorite Disney villain is Malificent, when I was little I found her to be the creepiest of them all, her voice used to scare me.

  12. My favorite villain is probably Maleficent. In the live action movie, I just couldn’t help but love her. I loved seeing the other side of the coin, so to speak. You only see the evil side in the cartoon film but with the live action, you get a completely different view of her. You see why she bestowed the curse and why she hates the king so much and it was just such a treat to see a different side of this villain. Plus, that transformation scene in the cartoon was just A+!

  13. I have had my eye on these for ages what a great giveaway! I don’t think I could pick a favorite villain they’re all too fun

  14. My favorite villain is scar. I think it goes with the animal theme I’m fond of. Plus he’s just ruthless. Also am a fan of jafar because of some catchy songs, plus who doesn’t want a little extra power?

  15. Ursula is my favorite villain! I have always loved her because the Little Mermaid is one of my favorite movies. I am just drawn to sea creatures.

  16. I love them all. I really do. But, if I have to choose one here, I’m going to say Maleficent. I adore dragons, and her iconic transformation is one of my favorite Disney moments in general. Also, Maleficent is a villain whose backstory makes her evilness sort of vindicated, and I love that. Do I want her to win? Not necessarily. But they could have invited her…

    1. Hi Ellen – All comments are moderated & must be approved before they appear on the site! I was traveling all last week, so I’m only just now getting to these ones. 🙂

  17. My favourite is definitely Maleficent. She may be evil but she does it with such beauty and grace.

Almost makes being wicked seem glamorous.. ??? ?

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  18. My favorite is Oogie Boogie. I think he is such a unique and strange villain. I would love to know his backstory.

  19. Cruella is my favorite because when I was a little girl we had a baby sitter who looked and acted just like her so we called her Cruella, she’s an awesome villain!

  20. My favorite has always been Ursula. She was always so scary and devious. I was afraid of her as a child but as an adult love her!

  21. Ohhh I’d say The witches from Hocus Pocus! Kronk from The Emperors New Groove! Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare before Christmas!

  22. I would pick Jafar because he was very sneaky and like you mentioned evil allvthe way through until greed got the best of him.

  23. I love Ursella because she transforms herself into such a beautiful girl. Its 2 different people in one & she’s almost slick enough to get the prince.

  24. My favourite is Yzma from Emperor’s New Groove. I mean the really really really really really old gag had me on the floor and kronk is the best henchman you can ask for. Also cat Yzma is so cute.
