I’ve been dreaming of this photo shoot for Styled by Books for months now, and I’m so glad it finally came to fruition. Today, I’ve got a Night Court-inspired outfit based on the A Court of Thorns & Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.
I started with this star-print dress from eShakti (I lengthened the dress from how it is shown on their website, using their customization feature). Their site actually has a ton of celestial-inspired dresses right now that would make for an amazing Night Court-inspired ensemble. I seriously want so many of them!
Of course, this look wouldn’t be complete without Feyre’s distinct tattoo. Thankfully, Bookmark’d Tattoos has an amazing temporary tattoo version; you can get just the hand tattoo or the full sleeve, like I have on here. Use NOVELNOVICE to save 10% on any orders from her shop.
The star tiara I really wanted was something like $500, so I made do with this $1 version I got at Walgreens from their 4th of July seasonal section. But my necklace is a custom, Night Court-inspired key from Aspiring Artista. She’s planning to have more ACOTAR-inspired necklaces in her shop when it reopens, and you can always request a custom piece if you don’t see what you want in stock. SARA15 will save you 15% on any order, including custom.
This is one of my favorite cardigans – I’ve worn it in previous Styled by Books shoots – and is from Torrid. (Though it is not currently available.)
A lot of my Styled by Books photo shoots happen around my own yard, but sometimes they call for a more epic location – as was the case here. We shot these in Tryon Creek State Natural Area just outside of Portland, OR. It’s filled with amazing trails, bridges, woods, creeks, and a visitor’s center.
Tell me in the comments below: what other books/series would you love to see get the Styled by Books treatment? (And if you feel inspired, be sure to post your own photos on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #StyledByBooks)
Hi. I like your blog posts but I honestly can’t understand why you continually post more than a dozen similar photos of yourself. I guess that I’m more interested in the books and would really appreciate it if you could edit the photos so I’m not scrolling through a bunch of the same photos. I see that you posted 5 photos on Instagram which is all about photos so that at least makes some sense, but I kind of lost count here. Seriously, not a hater — just confused by the abundance of the same photos.
Well, Lori. I guess if you don’t like these posts, you don’t have to look at them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But since it’s my blog, I’ll post whatever I want to!
(But seriously. The Styled by Books posts are all about featuring outfits inspired by books. This is an on-going feature I post here, just like reviews, guest posts, contests, etc. If you don’t like them, that’s fine. But I’m not going to stop posting them, because I enjoy them very much.)
Sara, you look so fierce & fabulous in these pictures! Definitely doing the whole Night Court proud. LOVE the dress. I’ve never bought from eshakti, but those celestial print dresses are to die for! You should do an entire set of Prythian Styled by Books. I’d love to see your looks for the other courts!
Love you, Mary.
