We’re celebrating this week’s release of Spindle by E.K. Johnston, a Disney-inspired Sleeping Beauty retelling, with an epic princess’s curse prize pack giveaway. Thanks to our friends at Disney-Hyperion providing the prizing for this great contest. Keep reading for details and more about the book:
The world is made safe by a woman…but it is a very big world.
It has been generations since the Storyteller Queen drove the demon out of her husband and saved her country from fire and blood. Her family has prospered beyond the borders of their village, and two new kingdoms have sprouted on either side of the mountains where the demons are kept prisoner by bright iron, and by the creatures the Storyteller Queen made to keep them contained.
But the prison is crumbling. Through years of careful manipulation, a demon has regained her power. She has made one kingdom strong and brought the other to its knees, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. When a princess is born, the demon is ready with the final blow: a curse that will cost the princess her very soul, or force her to destroy her own people to save her life.
The threads of magic are tightly spun, binding princess and exiled spinners into a desperate plot to break the curse before the demon can become a queen of men. But the web of power is dangerously tangled–and they may not see the true pattern until it is unspooled.

E.K. Johnston had several jobs and one vocation before she became a published writer. If she’s learned anything, it’s that things turn out weird sometimes, and there’s not a lot you can do about it. Well, that and how to muscle through awkward fanfic because it’s about a pairing she likes.
You can follow Kate on Twitter (@ek_johnston) to learn more about Alderaanian political theory than you really need to know, on Tumblr (ekjohnston) if you’re just here for the pretty pictures, or online at ekjohnston.ca.
Knowing that I accomplished something during the day helps me sleep or reading before bed. 🙂
What usually helps me fall asleep is reading.
Two things I’ve found that I need to unwind–reading and drinking hot herbal tea–to help me relax enough to fall asleep. Now that I think about it, this giveaway is perfect for someone like me.
A warm cup of tea
I read for a while. 🙂
Every night I have some tea because it helps me be less stressed and unwind and also I always always read before going to sleep.
soothing music always works well for me
I re-read the chapter I read the night before that put me to sleep.
Just a simple routine.
Reading definitely helps me fall asleep. It’s a nightly ritual-—I always read before I go to bed and it always makes my night so much better. Thanks for the giveaway 🙂
Reading in bed.
I like to watch Stephen Colbert’s opening monologue on The Late Show. I usually find something there to smile about as I drift off to sleep. Thanks
Reading usually helps me fall asleep. I say “usually” because if the book is really intense, it’ll keep me awake all night. 🙂
A good book and a warm cup of cocoa are very helpful, of course!
A half teaspoon of Natural Calm, some instrumental music, and the Stop, Breathe, & Think app.
Reading.
A hard day’s work
Nowadays a glass of wine and some comforting word puzzles on my tab :p
Thanks for the giveaway!!
I read before I go to bed and just have some down time.
This book is on my Goodreads Want to Read List
I’m usually so tired that I just fall immediately to sleep!
I’ll watch 10 minutes of one of the House Hunters International episodes on my DVR and then drift off to dreamland … sometimes I’ll even dream about visiting an exotic locale!
