Today, we’re pleased to be hosting a giveaway for “Tahereh’s Favorite Things,” in celebration of the release of her new middle grade book, Furthermore.
We’re also celebrating an explosion of color — with some photos of how color plays a role in my life, and celebrating the colorful cover (and world) of Furthermore.
The lands of Furthermore and Ferenwood are filled with color-magic. So for my first photo, I wanted to create a colorful image that spotlights Furthermore itself:
Of course, I love bookish rainbows of all kinds! This is a photo I snapped a while back for a bookstagram challenge:
Last year, my husband & I sold our condo, and bought and moved into a house — with our first yard! I’ve loved gardening here, and this was the first summer I had my very own rose bushes to take care of and obsess over. I mean, those blooms! These are just a couple of the many photos I took of my roses this year (if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see plenty more):
And of course, anyone who’s met me or seen my picture knows, I love colorful hair. I’ve been rocking the Ariel red hair for several years now, and just recently added some dark purple to the bottom tips of my hair:
Ā To celebrate the release of Furthermore, we’ve teamed up with Penguin Random House & are offering a prize pack featuring “Tahereh’s Favorite Things” — that is, goodies hand picked by author Tahereh Mafi from products she adores. (This is one of FOUR different prize packs being offered across the blogosphere!)

Color means everything to me–my bedroom and bathroom and office are shades of darker purple. I love to wear bright colors. I feel happier when surrounded by color.
It means beauty to me and I surround myself with it!
Color is life itself. It makes the world pop! How ho-hum the day would be without it.
Happiness and life
Color means individuality. You can turn anything into some thing different. It is everything…all around us.
Color is God making the world shine :). I love all the variations/hues of all the colors. Makes me happy.
I used to do stage lighting for concerts and theatrical events so I worked with color every day. It was a big part of my life for a really long time, not as much now, but still important. Thanks for the chance to win this great prize.
Color means a lot to me. It’s such a part of what makes the world beautiful to me.
makes the world fun
RED. It’s the color of my hair. Usually, my nails, too. It’s the color of my temper. ? BLUE. The color of my son’s eyes. PINK. The color of stubborn, injured teens who will step back into their scuffed up pink ballet shoes to become stronger and stronger. PURPLE. My youngest’s favorite color. The color of passion and royalty. Her current ambition is to be President of the U.S. One day. Colors symbolize so much in my life, where would I be without them.
Colors are everything and are all around you. I am a sort of a paint-chip-aholic when it comes to painting a room. Because even a slightly different shade portray a completely different feel.
Color is life, beauty, and magic! As an artist, I cannot tell you my favorite color because I love all of them all so dearly!
Color is what makes life so much fun!
its part of every day of my life, from the ride to work (red, green lights) to when i go home at night and see the cool multicolored sunset.
To me, color is the world and anything and everyone in it. Without difference, the world would be black, white, and gray, which would be kind of boring.
Color around me makes me remember the beautiful things life has to offer.
