As usual, Wolff has a knack for writing unexpected twists and turns — and Reckoning is no exception. Annelise’s goal may be clear, but the road she takes to get there is filled with treachery and surprises. Each new twist keeps readers on their toes, as Annelise navigates the always murky and deadly world of the vampires, and fights for he chance to have a real life, and save the ones she loves most.
I’m so glad Wolff saw this series through to its conclusion, because (1) I don’t know if I could have lived with so much left open-ended and unanswered and (2) it was so satisfying to follow Annelise’s story through to this finale. Reckoning is packed with action, intrigue, and sizzling romance. It is a worthwhile conclusion to a sexy and seductive series; frankly, I’m bummed out that not more people know about these books — but I’m doing my darnedest to make sure more people learn about it every day!
If you haven’t delved into the world of THE WATCHERS yet, this is the perfect time to take the plunge. Start with Isle of Night and binge read to the very conclusion. And if, like me, you’ve been waiting patiently for the release of Reckoning rest assured that the wait was well worth it. Wolff delivers brilliantly on this tantalizing franchise, and serves her characters well with a thoughtful and emotionally powerful, action-packed finale.
