Today, we’re really excited to be hosting a contest to celebrate the upcoming release of Passenger by Alexandra Bracken — a book that we’re really excited to dive into ourselves. Why? Well, just read what it’s all about & we think you’ll understand:
In one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles, but years from home. And she’s inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family whose existence she’s never heard of. Until now.
Nicholas Carter is content with his life at sea, free from the Ironwoods–a powerful family in the Colonies–and the servitude he’s known at their hands. But with the arrival of an unusual passenger on his ship comes the insistent pull of the past that he can’t escape and the family that won’t let him go so easily. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value, one they believe only Etta, his passenger, can find. In order to protect her, Nick must ensure she brings it back to them–whether she wants to or not.
Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods’ grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home… forever.
Passenger by Alexandra Bracken is in stores January 5th.

If I was transported to another time, I think the first thing I’d try to do is blend in a bit lol I’d probably look sorely out of place in any past times 😛
Ahhhh, this book. I loved Bracken’s The Darkest Minds series and Brightly Woven. If I were transported to another time, I’d probably panic and freak out and then try and figure out how to get some money (hopefully in an honest way)! You really can’t do much without money. O_O
Thank you and Disney!

I want to go back to the time of Henry VIII as well as Elizabeth I and Shakespeare
If I was suddenly transported in time to another era, I would try to find a map first – this would help with location obviously, but also give me a rough idea of when in time I landed. Then I would brush off my language skills by hanging out at a cheap pub and listen to the locals.
Time travel is one of the most interesting concepts! That’s why I think it is a great way to entice kids to read! If I were to be transported in time, I would hope that I would have enough knowledge of that time to be able to fit in and absorb the lifestyle, take notes, and hopefully find a way back to my family!
Good one! First I’d be totally freaked out I’m sure. Then I’d try to get my bearings and figure out where I was. Finally, the three basics: find food shelter and appropriate clothing. Thanks.
To be carried back
To another time
I’d hope to be on track-
Where I’d see a sign
Of friendliness-where
Whatever waits for me
Won’t be cold…but share
A warm tranquility.
It would depend what time period! If it was one that I wanted to learn about, then I’d be sure to look around, but without changing anything as much as possible. I’ve seen the Back to the Future movies, I know how it all works. 🙂
To be transported
To another time
I’d feel rudely courted…
‘Cross an unseen line;
But I’d pray to God
That I’d find, at hand,
A place to still my heart…
And help me understand.
I think I’d try to hide and just listen so I could figure out how to blend in.
This book was so good! I cannot wait for the next Passenger book.
To be in another era, another time, I’d be amazed at the changes in surroundings and people and hope to know how to do the right things. Once the novelty wears off, I’d want to go back to real life.
I’d probably hide until I could snag some clothes to fit in and wander around listening to conversations to figure out where/when I am. Then go exploring, maybe change the world, the usual 😉
Figure out the fastest and safest way to blend in and survive!
I’d probably try to blend in, and figure out a way to get home. If it worked and I could travel around and leave whenever I’d like, I’d probably hang out and explore for a bit though (depending on when and where).
I don’t know what I’d do. Cry, probably, and then try to figure out how to get home. See what I could learn in the meantime.
I honestly have no idea what I’d do. I’d probably have a mini or full-blown panic attack. Then I would try to find a hot guy (with an accent) who would take pity on the poor, pathetic girl trying to figure her way through life, so he could show me the ropes. I’m picturing something kind of similar to Outlander. 🙂
