I have a lot of conflicted feelings when it comes to the events that unfold in Endless Knight by Kresley Cole, the second book in her Arcana Chronicles. But the one thing I’m not conflicted about is how I feel about the book itself; I loved it.

endless knightIn the second book of the Arcana Chronicles Evie has now fully come into her powers as the tarot Empress. And Jackson was there to see it all. In the aftermath of killing Arthur, the tarot Alchemist, Evie realizes that a war is brewing between the other teens that, following the apocalypse, have been given powers and its kill or be killed.

Things get even more complicated when Evie meets Death, the mysterious, sexy Endless Knight. Somehow the Empress and Death share a romantic history – one that Evie can’t remember, but Death can’t forget. She is drawn to the Endless Knight, but is in love with Jack. Determined to discover why she’s been granted these powers, Evie struggles to accept her place in a prophecy that will either save the world, or completely destroy it.

Endless Knight is jam-packed with action, adventure, romance … and oh yeah, romance!!! The contents of this book are sizzling hot, and parents should note it’s definitely intended for older teen readers. That said, the romance and sexual tension between the characters in this book is palpable, and Cole delivers the perfect dose of steamy interactions to have readers swooning (and fanning themselves).

Meanwhile, Cole’s imaginative twist on the dystopian/end of the world/post-apocalyptic saga further unfolds in Endless Knight, as we learn more about the history of the fight-to-the-death battles that the Arcana face every few hundred years. It’s a fight just as grisly as The Hunger Games, but with supernatural powers and stakes higher than just the winner’s survival.

Endless Knight will delight fans of Poison Princess and leave them clamoring for the next book — and it’s the perfect encouragement to entice new readers to discover both books in this sexy and imaginatively unique saga.

Endless Knight is in stores now.
