All this month, we’re featuring The Watchers Series by Veronica Wolff as our July Book of the Month. But what do we love so much about this series to make it our book of the month? Every Monday for the rest of this month, we’re going to feature a “review recap” of all four books in the series (so-far) and share WHY we love them so much. Today, we’re starting with Book 1: Isle of Night …
Vampires, boot camp, and some Hunger Games-esque violence combine to create a thrilling, fast-paced paranormal adventure in Isle of Night: The Watchers by Veronica Wolff.
Here’s what else we wrote about Isle of Night:
- How well Wolff makes improbable situations believable
- Wolff has created some really interesting characters: Annelise is a fighter (in more than one sense of the word) […] and Wolff has created a total swoon-worthy potential paramour in Ronan
- In a book with so much action, it should also be mentioned that Wolff does a great job of bringing those scenes to life — right up to the very last climactic sentence that leaves you anticipating the next book
- If you’re a fan of vampire stories, romance and action (as I am), then Isle of Night will prove a fantastic, thrilling read
