The Madman’s Daughter Gothic Horror Writing Contest

Today, we are kicking off a contest inspired by our February book of the month, The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd. The novel is inspired by the gothic horror classic The Island of Dr. Moreau — and that’s the source of our writing contest this month!

In 250-500 words, share the beginnings of a story that is inspired by a classic Gothic horror story — novels like Frankenstein by Mary Shelley or Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, or even short stories of the same genre are all the perfect sources of inspiration for this challenge!

Just fill out the Novel Novice + The Madman’s Daughter Writing Contest Entry Form and be sure to tell us what story or novel is the inspiration for your entry.

Please remember, your inspiration should be a CLASSIC — not something written recently.

The Prize

One (1) winner will receive a finished copy of The Madman’s Daughter, plus bookmarks & Madman’s Daughter tea — courtesy of Megan herself, and HarperCollins.
