I adore the cover for our September book of the month, Quarantine: The Loners by Lex Thomas. And like a lot of you, I love learning the story behind book covers.
So often, authors have little or no say in the matter — but sometimes, the publisher really does value their input. And it sounds like Lex and Thomas (they guys combined their name to create a single author pen name) had a great time sharing their thoughts with the designers before the final cover was revealed.
On their blog, Lex and Thomas share some of the movie posters and old book covers they sent to their publisher when asked about cover ideas. Here are a few of the posters they included when asked what vision they had in mind:

I really like the cover. The way the main characters are so far away is a great perspective. I also like how Lex and Thomas put their names together, I had no idea.
