Fever by Lauren DeStefano Fan Fiction Writing Contest

To celebrate this week’s release of Fever by Lauren DeStefano, we’re delighted to host a very fun writing contest — which Lauren herself will help choose the winners for!

Last year, we hosted a contest for the release of the first book in Lauren’s series, Wither, and asked you to imagine yourself in the same situation as the main character:  kidnapped and forced into a polygamous marriage for the sake of bearing children. This year, we’re expanding on that concept!

The Contest

Write a short story (250-500 words MAX) based on the characters or situations in Wither by Lauren DeStefano. This can be a work of fan fiction, featuring characters from the book — or a spin-off story about your own characters, but set in the same dystopian world.

I know 250-500 words can be short, but you may also submit an excerpt from a longer piece if you prefer.

You can submit works of fan fiction already published online, but please DO NOT include stories from last year’s contest. (We’ll check, and anyone who does will be disqualified — so just don’t do it!)

Submit your entries using the Fever Fan Fiction Contest Entry Form to be considered.

Lauren DeStefano will be helping choose the winners — so write to impress her!

The Prizes

Up to* three (3) winners will receive a paperback copy of Wither and a finished hardcover of Fever, courtesy of Simon & Schuster.

The Rules:

  • U.S. Only
  • Please use proper spelling & grammar
  • Entries should be 250-500 words
  • Use the entry form
  • One entry per person

The Deadline:

We’ll give you two weeks to enter.

All entries are due by midnight (PT) on Wednesday, March 7th.

Questions? Leave ‘em in the comments & we’ll reply!

* We reserve the right to limit the number of winners based on the quality of entries received. For example: if we only receive one worthy entry, only one winner will be chosen. As many as three winners will be chosen.
