If you were seduced by Wither, prepare to be completely blown away by the sequel, Fever by Lauren DeStefano — a rare middle book that, in my opinion, is even better than the original!
The first book sucked me in with its seductive and taboo themes, and haunted me with DeStefano’s hypnotic writing. These things are all back and then some in Fever — but this second book takes everything to a whole new level.
Whereas Wither was a slow building, thematic book, Fever is action packed with twists and turns that are as shocking as they are horrifying. Fever is an addictive read that follows Rhine and Gabriel on the run from Housemaster Vaughn — but the past can’t be so easily escaped. As Rhine searches for her brother Rowan, she and Gabriel will encounter threats both new and old.
Fever is a thrilling blend of the atmosphere and themes that made Wither so unique, and the fast-paced adventure that was lacking in the first book. Fever almost feels like a collection of shorter vignettes — yet each one adds a new layer to the story, and the challenges facing Rhine and Gabriel on their journey. It all culminates in a disturbing and shocking end that will leave readers eager for the third book.
Fever is in stores today!
Oh I didn’t know this was out! I read the first book and now I have to get this one 🙂 Thanks for the review!
