The Boys of YA Lit: Peeta from The Hunger Games

All this week, we here at Novel Novice & the guys at Boy’s Don’t Read are featuring five of our favorite guy characters from YA lit and evaluating whether we’d date them (here at Novel Novice), OR at Boys Don’t Read, if they’d play World of Warcraft (WoW) with them, or in general hang out with them.

Here is today’s pick, and share your thoughts in the comments below, plus other YA guys you’d swoon over (or play WoW with)!

Peeta from The Hunger Games

Peeta Mellark. The boy with the bread. Tribute from District 12. Hopelessly in love with Katniss Everdeen. We adore this baker boy: real or not real? Definitely real!

You can argue all you want about the qualities of Gale Hawthorne, but this girl is 100% Team Peeta — and has been from the start. Let’s face it, Peeta is a hopeless romantic, and while the focus of The Hunger Games is certainly not romance, the quiet little moments between him and Katniss are among the book’s finest, and continue to be so throughout the entire series.

Final Verdict: Take him home to meet mom. He’ll bring baked treats.

Now head to Boys Don’t Read to see how they rated the Boy with the Bread!
