All this week, we’ve been featuring Goliath and the rest of the Leviathan trilogy by Scott Westefeld. But today, we want to spend some time spotlighting another one of Scott’s series and their very slick new covers.
We’ve long been fans of the Uglies series, but we here at Novel Novice fell in love with them again when Simon & Schuster re-issued the books with fancy new covers earlier this year. I really adore the stark, clinical feel to these covers — the theme fits so well with the plot of the books!
So to celebrate, we’re giving you a chance to win a complete set of the newly re-branded Uglies series!
Compare the new covers & the old covers, and tell us which ones you like better and why!
Just fill out your responses on the Novel Novice Uglies Series Contest Entry Form for your chance to win a complete set of books!
Two (2) winners will each get a complete set of the Uglies series with the new covers:
- One entry per person
- U.S. only
- Use the entry form
All entries are due by midnight (PT) on Friday, September 23rd.
Meanwhile, here’s more about Uglies, with the original covers below for comparison:
Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can’t wait. Not for her license — for turning pretty. In Tally’s world, your sixteenth birthday brings an operation that turns you from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is to have a really great time. In just a few weeks Tally will be there.
But Tally’s new friend Shay isn’t sure she wants to be pretty. She’d rather risk life on the outside. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world — and it isn’t very pretty. The authorities offer Tally the worst choice she can imagine: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever.
