If a good book can make you feel hungry, then It’s Raining Cupcakes by Lisa Schroeder is a GREAT book! I was starving half of the time I read it!

Of course, this book is about more than just sweets. The main character, a 12- year-old girl named Isabel, is probably in the stickiest situation she could ever imagine. Her mother decides to open a cupcake shop, and along the way, everything about the young girl’s life begins to change.

One of the biggest changes she sees is in her mother, who begins to give up when she sees that opening the shop isn’t as easy as she thought.

So while her Dad is busy building the shop, and her mom is giving up on it, Isabel turns to her best friend Sophie only to find that they are in a fight!

Isabel begins to feel hopeless, but in her heart she knows this cupcake shop might do everyone some good.

While I was reading this book, I thought it was cool because you could relate to the characters a lot. And even though it seemed like mostly a tween  girl book, there were parts where adults, boys and other people could say, “Hey, that sort of reminds me of me!”

While you read It’s Raining Cupcakes, you will meet new characters, come across difficult situations, and watch a wonderful story come together, with chocolate icing on top!

The paperback edition of It’s Raining Cupcakes is in stores tomorrow, April 19th!

  1. My husband read this to my daughter last year and they both really liked it. He had the same thought that you did, that it was nice to have a complicated character instead of a simple perfect one.
