We normally post most of our news updates in our weekly Saturday Post, but this tid-bit was just WAY TOO EXCITING to wait that long … yes, folks. There is an official release date for The Hunger Games movie: March 23, 2012!

Mark your calendars, Hunger Games fans. Lionsgate has announced that the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling books will hit theaters on March 23, 2012.
This is the first time producers have revealed an official release date for The Hunger Games film. The date also lets fans know that there is just over one year until they see the book come to life on the big screen.
Production on the film is set to begin later this spring. Lionsgate just announced yesterday that it had hired casting director Debra Zane for the film, so news about casting should come within the next several weeks.
Squee!!! Who else is beyond excited?!?!?!

I agree that it seems long… but on the other hand, that means they will only have just over a year to create the movie and they haven’t even cast anyone yet!
Words cannot describe my excitement. I literally squealed — a big event, since I’m not usually a squealer. O. M. G. I cannot wait, hopefully the casting is satisfactory and the director isn’t a total airhead.
