Go beyond The Naughty List: Book Recommendations

So you’ve read The Naughty List. And So Many Boys. And you loved them. But now what? Well, here are a few book recommendations for fans of the series.

The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg

Okay, so there are no cheerleaders — and the book is more about true friendship and being your own person with or without a boyfriend, but fans of The Naughty List series will cherish the girl power of Elizabeth Eulberg’s debut novel. The Lonely Hearts Club is, after all, about a group of girls who stand together and support each other! In fact, it was our March Book of the Month, so we’ve got lots of fun goodies from this book on our site. Here’s the official synopsis:

Penny is sick of boys and sick of dating. So she vows: no more. It’s a personal choice. . .and, of course, soon everyone wants to know about it. And a few other girls are inspired. A movement is born: The Lonely Hearts Club (named after the band from Sgt. Pepper). Penny is suddenly known for her nondating ways . . . which is too bad, because there’s this certain boy she can’t help but like. . . .

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepherd

Gossip! Scandal! High school! The Pretty Little Liars series by Sara Shepherd is still going strong, and it’s gotten a fresh batch of readers thanks to the recent ABC Family TV series adaptation. Here’s what you can expect from the first book:

Everyone has something to hide—especially high school juniors Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna.

Spencer covets her sister’s boyfriend. Aria’s fantasizing about her English teacher. Emily’s crushing on the new girl at school. Hanna uses some ugly tricks to stay beautiful.

But they’ve all kept an even bigger secret since their friend Alison vanished.

How do I know? Because I know everything about the bad girls they were, the naughty girls they are, and all the dirty secrets they’ve kept. And guess what? I’m telling.

L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad

Reality TV star Lauren Conrad turns YA author with her debut novel (she calls it fiction, but based on the synopsis, it’s clearly a fictionalized take on her own experience starring on MTV’s “The Hills”). L.A. Candy is followed by Sweet Little Lies and a third book, Sugar & Spice (due out this fall). Here’s more on book one:

Los Angeles is all about the sweet life: hot clubs, cute guys, designer . . . everything. Nineteen-year-old Jane Roberts can’t wait to start living it up. She may be in L.A. for an internship, but Jane plans to play as hard as she works, and has enlisted her BFF Scarlett to join in the fun.

When Jane and Scarlett are approached by a producer who wants them to be on his new series, a “reality version of Sex and the City,” they can hardly believe their luck. Their own show? Yes, please!

Soon Jane is TV’s hottest star. Fame brings more than she ever imagined possible for a girl from Santa Barbara—free designer clothes, the choicest tables at the most exclusive clubs, invites to Hollywood premieres—and she’s lapping up the VIP treatment with her eclectic entourage of new pals. But those same friends who are always up for a wild night are also out for a piece of Jane’s spotlight.

In a city filled with people chasing after their dreams, it’s not long before Jane wakes up to the reality that everyone wants something from her, and nothing is what it seems to be.

L.A. Candy is a deliciously entertaining novel about what it’s like to come of age in Hollywood while starring in a reality TV show, written by a girl who has experienced it all firsthand: Lauren Conrad.

The Cinderella Society by Kay Cassidy

Need more girls sneaking around as part of a secret group? It sounds like Kay Cassidy’s The Cinderella Society has it in aces & spades. Here’s more:

When the Prom Queen becomes your fairy godmother…

Sixteen year old outsider, Jess Parker, gets the chance of a lifetime: an invitation to join a secret society of popular girls dedicated to defeating the mean girls of the world. The Cinderella Society guides all new recruits through its top secret ultimate life makeover. It’s all part of preparing them to face down the Wickeds and win. Determined not to let the Cindys down, Jess dives in with a passion. Finally, a chance to belong and show the world what she’s made of.

… be careful what you wish for.

Jess’s transformation wins her the heart of her dream crush and a shot at uber-popularity. Until the Wickeds–led by Jess’s arch enemy–begin targeting innocent girls in their war against the Cindys, and Jess discovers the real force behind her exclusive society. It’s a high stakes battle of good vs. evil, and the Cindys in power need Jess on special assignment. When the mission threatens to destroy her dream life come true, Jess is forced to choose between living a fairy tale and honoring the Sisterhood… and herself.

What’s a girl to do when the glass slipper fits, but she doesn’t want to wear it anymore?
