Attention younger fans of Novel Novice — and those of you with children or siblings between the ages of 4-13!
Our good friends at Mrs. P’s Magic Library are getting ready to kick off their 2nd annual writing contest for kids, and now is the perfect time to get a jump start on the project!
Here are the details:
* Submissions will be accepted Sept. 1st through Oct. 15th
* Open to kids 4-13
* 2 winners will be chosen, one in age group 4-8 and one in age group 9-13
*Stories may be any topic
* Fiction or nonfiction
* 250 to 1,000 words
* Two grand prize winners (one from each age group) will have their stories read by Mrs. P herself and an artist will create original illustrations to accompany the story. Each winner will receive a bound copy of the illustrated story, as well as having it posted on MrsP.com. (See last year’s winners for more.)
* Both grand prize winners and up to eight runners-up will also each recieve a $25 gift certificate to Powell’s.
* The judges this year include:
- best-selling author Meg Cabot
- Garfield creator Jim Davis
- Danny Kallis, producer and creator of Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.”
