So you want to see a Shiver movie? We do, too!

This is something fans of The Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Steifvater can hardly wait to check out … a movie version of Shiver.

And it’s not just fantasy. It’s in the works — albeit very early stages.

Here’s what we know:

* The movie rights to Shiver have been optioned by Unique Features (part of Warner Brothers)

* Screenwriter Nick Pustay has been hired to write

Of course, as fans wait for more news about a Shiver movie — one popular, seemingly never-end subject of conversation is fantasy casting. Now, fans have made lots of picks, but here are some names that Maggie, herself, has tossed around:

Grace: Dakota Blue Richards, Rachel Hurd Wood, Eliza Bennett

Sam: Alex Turner, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace

Ulrik: Jason Flemyng

As for fan-faves, these two come up a LOT on fan sites as casting possibilities for Sam & Grace: Steven R. McQueen and Brittany Robertson. You can also check out a variety of fantasy casting choices over at Behind Yellow Eyes.

For the comments: Who are YOUR fantasy casting picks for any of the characters in Shiver?

  1. I personally want Dakota Blue Richards as Grace in Shiver. I saw her in The Golden Compass and she’s a talented actress – she’s one of my fave actors/actresses!

  2. I, for one, loved Shiver and am over joyed to hear that it’s going to be made into a movie. I’d have to give my vote for Dakota Blue Richards as Grace and Jim Sturgess as Sam. I think they would make the perfect Grace/Sam couple on the big screen.

I saw him in vampire diaries and his acting SUCKED. Seriously, AVOID PICKING HIM AT ALL COSTS. xD

  4. I think Dakota Blue Richards would really suit the role for grace but the choices for Sam seem and look older than what Sam is described as….
    That’s just my opinion 🙂

  5. I’d love to see Dakota Blue in Shiver. I love all her movies; she’s so beautiful and talented… I think she’d be great playing Grace. 😀 Definitely vote for Dakota as Grace!
