Creative Writing Prompt #15
Titanic Events

In the wee hours of April 15, 1912, the RMS Titanic sunk in the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Ironically, April 15 is also tax day. Who decided that one?

This shared date leads me to reference that oft-uttered phrase from Daniel Defoe and Benjamin Franklin (I am taking my own liberties with the quote since both men wrote it differently):

Only two things are certain in life – death and taxes.

Today, write about death or taxes… or death and taxes… or the Titanic… or money. Just make sure a reference to the momentous occurrences of April 15 are in your poem.

We’re at the halfway point of National Poetry Month! See all of the creative writing prompts, poets, collections, and poems we’ve featured thus far… and don’t forget to enter our special contests this month! Get all the details.
