When we launched Novel Novice back in January, I spent the better part of a day sending out massive amounts of personalized e-mails to authors and publishers — looking for those interested in doing promotions with our new little website.
The response was, to say the least, overwhelmingly positive. Many of those authors who replied are being included in our Book of the Month features.
Since that initial e-mailing, I’ve continued to send out additional inquiries to more authors and I continue to get a great response.
Yesterday, I paid tribute to those authors participating in our past, present and upcoming Book of the Month features. Today for Author Appreciation Day, I want give a big ol’ shout-out to the other authors who have taken the time to share with us — whether it be a contest, an interview, or more.
L.K. Madigan
Right after she won the William C. Morris Award for her debut YA novel Flash Burnout, I shot Lisa an e-mail asking her immediately if she’d answer some interview questions for our lil’ ol’ website … and despite suddenly finding herself more in the national spotlight then ever before, she simply said, “Sure.” And she even answered silly redundant questions for us, like, “What is your book about?” (Well, it was something like that.)
Lauren Kate
We reached out to Lauren after we saw she was doing a blog tour to promote her most recent book Fallen — and when we e-mailed Lauren, it was too late to join the blog tour. But Lauren didn’t care — she just said, “Let’s do something else!” and thus we began planning a week of features on Lauren and her books. And like L.K. Madigan, she also answered a ridiculous amount of interview questions for us.
Adam Jay Epstein & Andrew Jacobson
These guys didn’t even reply to my e-mail — THEY e-mailed US! That’s right, they found our website and sought us out to help promote their upcoming debut novel The Familiars. These guys have plenty of big connections in Los Angeles — but they still turned to Novel Novice to spread the word about their really cool new book. Thanks for thinking of us, guys!
