All this month we’re celebrating the debut novel from Heidi R. Kling, Sea … which tells the story of a 15-year-old girl who travels to Indonesia 6 months after the 2004 tsunami to work at an orphanage with her father.
One of the crucial elements of this novel is the element of travel — and how visiting a new place can change you or impact your life. So with that in mind, here’s our writing challenge to you:
The Contest
Tell us your travel story. Write about a trip or a place that has changed you or impacted your life in some way. It can be distant (like another country) or close (some place you visited in a single day, close to home).
The Prize:
One 1st place winner will receive a copy of Sea by Heidi R. Kling
Two runners-up will each receive a set of 5 Novel Novice bookmarks
The Rules:

- Please use proper grammar & spelling
- This should be a TRUE story (not fiction)
- Sorry, prizes can only be mailed to the U.S.
