The Saturday Post: Book Trailers, New Books, Movies & More

* First of all, this week we saw the first teaser video for Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare and it looks spectacular:

Another fine job by VLC Productions! (And guys, the book is AMAZING — quite possibly Cassie’s best yet!)

* Earlier this year, we told you that our staffer Tiffany had signed a book deal for her dystopian YA series. Now check out the official announcement from Publisher’s Weekly, that has a synopsis:

Tiffany Truitt’s CHOSEN ONES, in which a condemned seventeen-year-old Natural forced to serve penance at the Council of Creator’s training and breeding facility falls into forbidden love with a flawed, artificially-bred Chosen One, forcing both to question what it means to be created — or human — and how they can stop those who would play God with humanity, to Heather Howland at Entangled, in a three-book deal, for publication in Spring 2012.

* BIG news from Becca Fitzpatrick regarding her Hush, Hush series … a fourth book is on the way! That’s right, Silence (in stores this Tuesday, Oct. 4th) will NOT be the final book in the series:

Five days before the release of Silence, (excerpt below) the third novel in Fitzpatrick’s Hush, Hush series, her publisher is announcing that Fitzpatrick will write a fourth book.

Fitzpatrick, in a statement released by Simon and Schuster, says, “I can’t bring myself to say goodbye to these characters yet, and truly believe that their best adventures are yet to come.”

The fourth book, as yet untitled, will be released in fall, 2012.

* Some exciting news for fans of Lauren Kate’s Fallen series:

Lauren Kate has signed with Delacorte Books for Young Readers to do a new story collection featuring characters from her bestselling current series, Fallen. The new book, Fallen In Love, will come out January 2 with a 400,000-copy announced first printing, before the final book in the series, Rapture, hits shelves. Fallen In Love will feature four connected love stories.

* Also, apparently Stephen King is writing a sequel to The Shining. While not YA, I did read this book as a teen and loved it (despite the fact that it also scared the bejeezus out of me). Here’s the description from GalleyCat:

Doctor Sleep, his upcoming novel about a grown-up Danny Torrance from The Shining. In the book, Danny is a hospice worker who uses his powers to help ill patients to pass away without pain. Unfortunately, he runs afoul of a gang of wandering psychic vampires who feed on people’s energy

* MTV shared some footage & interviews from their visit to the set of The Perks of Being a Wallflower earlier this year! Some of the video includes the cast in a graduation scene — I was actually on set that day! (My Q&A with the cast members from that day & set visit report will be released eventually … but are embargoed for now.)

* Speaking of movie adaptations, MTV also has an update on Warm Bodies with director Jonathan Levine.

* See the new book trailer for The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa on the Harlequin Teen Facebook page.
