Over the last year, we’ve developed a wonderful rapport with many of today’s best YA authors. We’ve even become friends with some of them. It’s always fun for us to work directly with authors while helping promote their books, and share their creations with readers. And while we have much undying love for these authors, it seems they’re a bit fond of us, too. (This is where the Novel Novice team begins blushing and stammering incoherently …)

A couple months ago, I emailed the authors we’ve worked with over the last year to tell them about our upcoming first anniversary. I told them about our Contest of Epic and asked if they’d be willing to chip in any goodies for prizes. They were. And in fact, you’re going to be AMAZED by the prize packs we’ve put together for this contest (coming later this week).
And then I asked if our author friends would be willing to say a few kind words about Novel Novice. Sort of like “blurbing” a book, only we asked them to “blurb” our website. Well, needless to say, the outpouring of kind words and support has been OVERWHELMING.
And yes, this is where all that blushing and incoherent stammering comes from. Because I’m simply speechless at all the wonderful, kind things our author friends had to say:
The Novel Novice is my go-to spot for all things hot in YA! In-depth and exciting, it’s one of my first bloggy stops of the day!
– Suzanne Young, The Naughty List series and A Need So Beautiful (June 2011)
I love Novel Novice because it provides great resources and information for the English teachers who use my books in the classroom. I can’t tell you how many emails I’ve received from teachers who say they used Novel Novice to prepare lessons for HUSH, HUSH. Two thumbs up for Novel Novice!
– Becca Fitzpatrick, Hush, Hush and Crescendo
Novel Novice is my favorite book blog. They are crazy-passionate about books – you won’t find any bland reviews there. You can tell when a reviewer is going through the motions; this group bursts with energy and genuine excitement.
– L.K. Madigan, Flash Burnout and The Mermaid’s Mirror
We love and depend upon Novel Novice for their smart, thoughtful and insightful reviews of YA books.
– Stacy Kramer and Valerie Thomas, Karma Bites
I love Novel Novice because they are truly passionate about books, and are always trying to come up with new and fun ways to feature books and authors! Their book reviews are thoughtful and well written, and I often find myself borrowing or buying a title after I’ve read a Novel Novice review.
– Lisa Schroeder, I Heart You, You Haunt Me; Chasing Brooklyn; It’s Raining Cupcakes; The Day Before (June 2011)
I’m continually impressed by the creative lengths and enthusiasm Novel Novice puts into everything they do. I always have a blast working with them. AND they were even able to stump me on a crossword puzzle based on my novel! Happy Anniversary to some of the greatest ladies in the blogosphere!
– Elizabeth Eulberg, The Lonely Hearts Club; Prom & Prejudice
I love Novel Novice for its sharp reviews, the wide variety of content and resources on the site, and for dishing on so many of my favorite books. And, of course, for being instrumental in getting the word out about the Fallen series! Happy b-day, Novel Novice and thanks for all that you do!
– Lauren Kate, Fallen; Torment; Passion (June 2011)
Novel Novice has their finger on the pulse of YA. They know what teens really want!
– Kimberly Derting, The Body Finder & Desires of the Dead (February 2011)
Cheers to Novel Novice on their First Anniversary! The Novel Novice website is one of the best organized and easy-to-use websites I’ve seen. The content provides a treasure trove of gems for authors, readers, educators, teachers, and kids. Keep up the good work!
– Inara Scott, Delcroix Academy
Hail, hail NOVEL NOVICE! With the intimacy of a blog and the reach of something scary, you offer an incredible community of connection for authors and readers. As a writer who sucks at self-promo, having the support of NOVEL NOVICE means so much to me.
– Nina Malkin, Swoon & Swear (Aug. 2011)
Happy 1st Anniversary Novel Novice! I love that you have so many wonderful resources for teachers on your site. Especially your essay prompts to encourage writing with the shared goal of sparking the imagination and creativity in young people, as that is something near and dear to my heart too! Keep up the great work.
– Mrs. P, http://www.mrsp.com
Novel Novice is doing something different and important. By giving teachers and students tools to talk about books the students love, the site can spark a new level of connection in the classroom, a way to relate books to students’ own experiences. Novel Novice combines a passion for YA literature with the kind of organization and creative focus that can make things happen.
– Emily Whitman, Radiant Darkness; Wildwing
Happy Birthday to Novel Novice, one of the most dedicated and supportive YA lit blogs around. I felt so fortunate to have them cheering on SEA with such attention to detail and enthusiasm. Cheers to another great year of books and blogging!
– Heidi R. Kling, Sea

CONGRATULATIONS! Happy Anniversary. What wonderful things the above authors have mentioned. I agree with them. This is an awesome place to go to determine what new reading material to choose.
Happy anniversary! You guys have one of the best book sites out there. The library I work at is trying to jump start a teen program, and I check your site daily to find out what’s coming out in the YA Fiction world. That, and it gives me an excuse to browse at work. ;D
Thanks for being such an awesome site, for hosting fantastic contests, posting true and honest reviews, and just being some of the nicest people around. ❤
