A Novel Novice Feature: Meet The Radleys by Matt Haig

Tomorrow brings us the U.S. book birthday of the latest “big thing” in vampire novels, The Radleys by Matt Haig, which has gotten major buzz in the U.K. since it was released there a couple of months ago. Tomorrow I’ll (re)post my review, with a few updates!

Here’s the synopsis:

Peter, Helen and their teenage children, Clara and Rowan, live in an English town. They are an everyday family, averagely dysfunctional, averagely content. But as their children have yet to find out, the Radleys have a devastating secret.

From one of Britain’s finest young novelists comes a razor-sharp unpicking of adulthood and family life. In this moving, thrilling and extraordinary portrait of one unusual family, The Radleys asks what we grow into when we grow up, and explores what we gain – and lose – when we deny our appetites.

Alfonso Cuaron (who also directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) has signed on to produce the movie version.

If you want to get to know some of the characters, check our their twitter handles:

And finally, take a peek at The Abstainer’s Handbook to find out what the Radleys are up against. If you really want to know, there’s also a quiz courtesy Simon & Schuster to find out if YOU are a Radley!
