Team Get Some Week: Hot New Guy & Awesome Boyfriend

All this week we’re teaming up with YA author Suzanne Young to show our support for Team Get Some … that is, the hottest romances in YA fiction.

And today, we’re featuring The Hot New Guy and The Awesome Boyfriend, two categories of guys who we love to adore.

For The Hot New Guy, we’re looking at Lend from Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. It’s pretty remarkable that Lend is hot, even though he looks like a blob of rippling water — at first, that is. As Evie begins to see through his glamours, she realizes that his true appearance is the most attractive of them all, reaffirming the old adage, “It’s what’s on the inside that counts.”

And when it comes to The Awesome Boyfriend, it’s hard to find someone more worthy of that title than Ethan from Beautiful Creatures and Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl. Besides the fact that he’s about as sweet, sensitive and caring as a guy can be — while still having a bit of macho moxie — he’s also more than willing to put up with all the drama and danger that comes with being Lena’s boyfriend. After all, she is a Caster — and the two of them can never really be together (or else he’ll die). Most guys would go running for the next human girl showing an ounce of interest, but not Ethan. He’s in it for the long run — and he goes above and beyond to prove it.
