The Saturday Post: James Frey Brou-ha-ha & other news

* Did you read I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore (the pseudonym for James Frey and Jobie Hughes)? The book is one of several that Frey is helping churn out from his virtual YA factory … and the concept (and a recent article in the Wall Street Journal) is getting the YA community fired up.

There are parts of I Am Number Four that I enjoyed (see my review here) — but there were times when it felt too contrived, as if it had been written to be made into a movie. After reading this WSJ article, I understand why.

Go check out the article for yourself & share your thoughts in the comments.

* Have you heard rumors that J.K. Rowling is planning to write a new Harry Potter book? Don’t go preordering just yet:

JK Rowling has confirmed she is considering writing more books about the wizarding world – but they will not feature Harry Potter.

Speaking at at the premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallow Part I, Rowling said: “If in 10 years time I wanted to do another one I probably would. However, I said to Dan [Radcliffe] I don’t think there will ever be another book with Harry as the central character. So Dan can sleep easy.”

* Our good friends at Mrs. P’s Magic Library are celebrating the release of their first, interactive children’s book! This is a wonderful book to pick up for your younger kids or younger siblings! Here’s a video from Mrs. P with more:
