Lots of exciting news today for fans of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy … here’s what’s happening:

Scholastic increases first printing of ‘Mockingjay,’ final book in ‘The Hunger Games’ trilogy

This morning, Scholastic announced that it was increasing the first printing of Mockingjay, the final book in Suzanne Collins’ best-selling trilogy, The Hunger Games.

The first printing of Mockingjay will be 1.2 million copies — increased from the original print run of 750,000 copies.

‘The Hunger Games’ author Suzanne Collins embarking on 12-city tour

The Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins will be going on tour this fall, to talk about the third and final book in her trilogy, Mockingjay.

Scholastic announced Collins’ 12-city tour this morning, along with news that Mockingjay would get an increased first printing of 1.2 million copies.

Mockingjay is due out in the U.S. on August 24th.

Collins will begin her tour in August — with stops in New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut and Boston.

In September, she will visit Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. In October, she travels to Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul. In November, she’ll make her final tour stops in Northern California, Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.

Scholastic hands out ‘The Hunger Games’ to fans at the U.K. premiere of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

Fans of The Twilight Saga got a surprise while waiting for the U.K. premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” in London’s Leicester Square. Scholastic U.K. handed out 3,000 copies of their best-selling novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

True, there are no vampires or werewolves in The Hunger Games — but Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has been a fan of The Hunger Games series after posting a review of it on her website.
