Creative Writing Prompt #21
From Bad to Worse
Sometimes our biggest inspirations come from some of the most unexpected places – bad movies, cruddy reality TV shows, or just the lazy parts of our brain that aren’t working very hard at original imagery.
So go with it.
Write the worst poem you can possibly imagine. Rhyme until the cows come home, use every cliche under the sun (see? I’m doing it right now), and write in a variety of different forms. Your poem should have a point, of course – don’t just write lists of the worst catchphrases you can recall. Write it like a real poem and a real draft, just don’t reach very hard when you’re forming the lines.
When you’re done, explore what you’ve written. How can you revise this experiment to make it a fantastic poem?
