Vampires have been the hot thing in Young Adult lit the last few years thanks to the popularity of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga and other series such as The Vampire Diaries and The House of Night.
Now, it seems everyone wants dibs on “the new vampire” … there have been several supernatural creatures to claim that title in the last year or so:

Besides books like In the Forest of Hands and Teeth and Generation Dead, Sourcebooks Fire is about to release its take on the teen zombie genre with Beautiful Dead. Here’s a blurb from Seventeen Magazine:

Before they died they were students at Ellerton High School.
