When we had the crazy idea to launch Novel Novice, it was with the primary goal of encouraging reading & education among teens, while also providing resources for parents and
teachers. Our staff is made up of a brilliant bunch of ladies (yes, I’m bragging about our collective awesomeness) — but not a one of us is in our teens.
What, you say? How can you have a site for teens — with NO teens on staff?
It took our own Steph (clumzbella) to make this connection, and thus we set out in search of a teen contributor. The responses was fantastic, and we’ve selected not one, but THREE teen contributors to join the Novel Novice family. Many thanks & kudos to Steph for undertaking this task. Now, without further ado — please meet the Novel Novice teen contributors:
Anna
Anna is a freshman in high school in Buffalo, NY. She would like to go into a writing-related field in college. She also runs the Twilight blog “Peace. Love. Twilight!”. When not blogging, she enjoys writing fiction (including fan fiction), playing the piano, rowing, watching old movies, and participating in musicals. Her love for YA fiction stretches across many genres and she always has trouble finding a book she has not read yet.
Marina
Marina is an eighteen-year-old student at Misericordia University in Dallas, PA. She is currently an undeclared major, who is looking into becoming an English and Secondary Education major. She is also a member of the Misericordia Cross-Country, indoor and outdoor Track and Field teams. She accidentally stumbled upon fanfiction about six years ago and has been an avid reader and writer ever since. Marina has always known that she was doomed to a love literature since her parents named her ‘Marina’ after the character in Pericles, Prince of Tyre by William Shakespeare.
Mia (M.K.)
Mia is a prose enthusiast who also dabbles into the realms of poetry from time to time. She also goes by MK for her middle name, but will answer to either MK or Mia. When her time isn’t being monopolized as a high school student in Ohio, Mia enjoys writing, running, a bit o’ blogging, yoga, and the obvious, reading. Mia has been perusing books since her grade school years, but, roughly less than a year ago, a little series called Twilight left her wanting more from the Forks characters. Somehow, she was drawn into the world of fan fiction, and it led her to Novel Novice. She affectionately refers to herself as a “Grammar Nazi,” and can be found on the receiving end of malicious glares from friends who have heard the “You’re doing well, not good!” speech one too many times. Mia listens to a plethora of music genres, speaks mediocre French, is currently learning to play the guitar, and makes some mean homemade mac and cheese. She hopes to one day move to the West Coast for college, become a nurse, and write a successful novel!
Welcome aboard! We look forward to hearing from them soon!
