As many of you are probably aware ABC’s hit television show, Lost will begin its final season in a matter of weeks. If you have not seen the show there is still time to catch up before the season 6 premiere. What makes Lost so great? Brilliant story-telling. I like to think of it as a show designed for fans of literature. It is seeped in mythology, dynamic characters, and does not stray away from crossing genre lines.
Throughout the series, the show has made references and allusions to some of literature’s greatest works. These subtle allusions make a lit geek like me supremely happy. This is not a show that tries to dumb down its material. In fact, it challenges audiences to pick up a great book and do some research.
Below are of some of the books alluded to on the show:
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Animal Farm
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margret
A Brief History of Time
Carrie
Catch-22
The Fountainhead
and many, many , many more. Click here to see the complete list!
