The Good Girls by Sara Shepard: Exclusive Video & Giveaway

videos
Today, we’re thrilled to be bringing you an exclusive video (AND a contest) for the blog tour for The Good Girls by Sara Shepard, the sequel (and conlusion) to The Perfectionists. Sara is also the author of the Pretty Little Liars series (yes, the same one the TV show is based on) and The Lying Game series, among other books.

The Good Girls picks up where The Perfectionists left off, with Mackenzie, Ava, Caitlin, Julie, and Parker trying to figure out who killed Nolan Hotchkiss — as well as the other people on their hypothetical “hit list” — and why they’d want to frame the girls for the murders.

For today’s post, we have an exclusive video Q&A with Mackenzie:

Want to see interviews with the rest of the girls? Check ’em out here:

ABOUT THE BOOK:

good girls, theTHE GOOD GIRLS
The Perfectionists #2
Author: Sara Shepard
Release Date: June 2, 2015
Publisher: HarperTeen

SYNOPSIS:

From Sara Shepard, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, comes the shocking sequel to The Perfectionists—with an ending you’ll have to read to believe!

Mackenzie, Ava, Caitlin, Julie, and Parker have done some not-so-perfect things. Even though they all talked about killing rich bully Nolan Hotchkiss, they didn’t actually go through with it. It’s just a coincidence that Nolan died in exactly the way they planned . . . right? Except Nolan wasn’t the only one they fantasized about killing. When someone else they named dies, the girls wonder if they’re being framed. Or are they about to become the killer’s next targets?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

SaraShepardFor as long as she can remember, Sara Shepard has been writing. However, when she was young she also wanted to be a soap opera star, a designer for LEGO, a filmmaker, a claymation artist, a geneticist, and a fashion magazine editor when she grew up. She and her sister have been creating joint artistic and written projects for years, except they’re pretty sure they’re the only ones who find them funny.

She got her MFA at Brooklyn College and now lives outside Philadelphia, PA with her husband and dogs. Her first adult novel is called The Visibles/ All The Things We Didn’t Say.

Sara’s bestselling young adult series, Pretty Little Liars, is loosely based on her experiences growing up on Philadelphia’s Main Line…although luckily she never had any serious stalkers. The series has also inspired the ABC Family television series of the same name.

Countdown Zero Blog Tour Banner
Today, we are so thrilled to be hosting a stop on the official blog tour for Countdown Zero by Chris Rylander, the second book in the Codename Conspiracy series. We’ve got lots of great info about the book, plus your chance to win a signed copy of Countdown Zero. So let’s get started …

Countdown ZeroAbout COUNTDOWN ZERO by Chris Rylander:

There are people in this world who live secret lives. There are people who fight the evil that lurks in the shadows so that the rest of us can live free from tyranny and fear. There are people—perhaps the person who is sitting across from you on the bus or waiting tables at your favorite restaurant—who put it all on the line for us, every day, whose names we’ll never know.

None of these people is Carson Fender.

At least, not since he was let go by the secret agency that enlisted his services to help foil a nefarious plot perpetrated by one of their former agents. Carson is back to hanging out with his friends, pulling pranks, and not having to lie to everyone about how he’s spending his days. And that’s for the best. Isn’t it?

Of course, this was all before a note showed up in his school lunch, informing him that Agent Nineteen has three days left to live, and that there might still be someone inside the Agency working against them. Carson has always been able to rely on his friends—but what happens when there’s no one left to trust?

Exclusive interview with King Dork Approximately author Frank Portman

author q-and-a banner
Recently, King Dork Approximately author Frank Portman came through Portland as part of a pre-publication tour. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Frank after his event to chat about the upcoming sequel to King Dork, the “Catcher Cult,” writing music, and more. Check out my exclusive interview here, and keep scrolling for more information about King Dork Approximately, in stores December 9th.

king dork approximatelyFrom Frank Portman comes the long-awaited sequel to the beloved cult classic King Dork, of which John Green, author of The Fault in Our Stars, said, “Basically, if you are a human being with even a vague grasp of the English language, King Dork will rock your world.”
Aside from the stitches and the head wound, Tom Henderson is the same old King Dork. He’s still trying to work out who to blame for the new scar on his forehead, the memory loss, and his father’s mysterious death. But illicit female hospital visitations, The Catcher in the Rye, and the Hillmont High sex-pocalypse have made him a new man.
What doesn’t make you stronger can kill you, though, and tenth grade, act two, promises to be a killer. Tom’s down one bloodstained army coat, one Little Big Tom, and two secret semi-imaginary girlfriends. Now his most deeply held beliefs about alphabetical-order friendship, recycling, school spirit, girls, rock and roll, the stitching on jeans, the Catcher Code, and the structure of the universe are about to explode in his face. If only a female robot’s notes could solve the world’s problems, he’d have a chance. But how likely is that?
King Dork Approximately–it feels like the first time. Like the very first time.

Look for our review of King Dork Approximately tomorrow!

Morganville Vampires Web Series Trailer Debut

videos
The trailer for the web series adaptation of Rachel Caine’s The Morganville Vampires has hit the web, and it looks pretty fang-tastic. (Yeah, I went there. Not sorry.)

morganville web seriesIf you’re not familiar with The Morganville Vampires, the series follows teen Claire Danvers, as she moves to the isolated West Texas town to attend the university. After she’s antagonized by some very mean girls, she moves off-campus — where her three housemates let her in on Morganville’s big secret: the town is run by vampires, and now they own her.

The web series for The Morganville Vampires debuts on October 27th, and is thanks to the support backers on Kickstarter. Check out the trailer now:

I love the look and feel of this trailer. It reminds me, in some ways, of old “Buffy” episodes – mixing campy with scary. (Or maybe that was the appearance of “Buffy” alum Tara Benson?) Either way, I’ll definitely be tuning in!

And if you haven’t read the books yet, now is the perfect time to get “sucked” in. (Yes, I know. I’m horrible. I can’t help it. I love vampire puns!)

For the comments: What do you think of the trailer? Will you be watching?

may2013 botm banner

Today for our May Book of the Month feature, we want to take a look at the hilarious book trailer for The Hero’s Guide to Storming the Castle by Christopher Healy (whose voice you may or may not recognize in this video):

The Hero’s Guide to Storming the Castle is in stores now!

hero's guide 2 high resPrince Liam. Prince Frederic. Prince Duncan. Prince Gustav. You remember them, don’t you? They’re the Princes Charming who finally got some credit after they stepped out of the shadows of their princesses – Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White, and Briar Rose – to defeat an evil witch bent on destroying all their kingdoms.

But alas, such fame and recognition only last so long. And when the princes discover that an object of great power might fall into any number of wrong hands, they are going to have to once again band together to stop it from happening – even if no one will ever know it was they who did it.

Christopher Healy, author of the acclaimed The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom, takes us back to the hilariously fractured fairy-tale world he created for another tale of medieval mischief. Magical gemstones, bladejaw eels, a mysterious Gray Phantom, and two maniacal warlords bent on world domination – it’s all in a day’s work for the League of Princes.
