Writing Prompt: Use Four Senses

(This month’s writing prompt inspired by my critique partner, Jade.)

One writing tip you hear over and over is use as many of the character’s senses as possible on every page to create a real world the reader can experience.

But…what would happen if your viewpoint character did not have the use of one of his senses?  How would that affect the way he, and thus the reader, experiences his world? How would you write a scene with a  character that can’t see or hear?

Step even further outside the box and consider a character who cannot distinguish scents, or taste foods, or feel touch.  What adaptations would this character need in order to function in his world?

What do you think about our writing prompts feature? Do you have any suggestions for future topics? Do you prefer open-ended prompts or specific ones?
