Think you’ve got what it takes to join the Novel Novice team?
I’m looking for a couple of new staff members to help out with very specific tasks here at Novel Novice. There’s always room to grow and do more, but these are great places for new staff members to get started and prove their worth.
So who do I need? Well, here’s what I’m looking for:
Writer: The Saturday Post
Do you love staying on top of all the latest & greatest news from the YA world? New books, cover reveals, book trailers, movie adaptations, and more. I need someone to compile a weekly recap of YA-related news for our Saturday Post.
The Saturday Post staffer will compile a summary of each news item in 1-2 sentences each and link to the source, as well as embed photos and videos when applicable. Ideally, you would gather links and news item throughout the week, then publish your post on Saturday morning each week.
New Releases Guru
Do you always know what new YA books are coming out before they hit store shelves? I need someone to create weekly posts highlighting some of the top new YA book releases each Tuesday morning.
The New Releases Guru will compile lists of new YA releases ahead of time and schedule posts to go live on the release date. These posts will include the book title, author name, official synopsis from GoodReads, and book cover.
Are you qualified?
Besides the requirements listed above, all candidates should be somewhat familiar with WordPress.com, as well as general blogging style and etiquette. Light knowledge of HTML is a plus.
You should also have a solid grasp of the English language, as I’m a bit of a stickler for spelling and grammar. Things like proper capitalization, punctuation, etc. are important to me and they should be important to you, too.
Novel Novice staff members should also be self-motivated individuals. I need folks who will make sure their blogging obligations are done properly and on time without me having to nag, remind, etc.
Will I get paid?
NO. Sorry, this job is volunteer only — even I don’t get paid for creating and running Novel Novice! But it’s loads of fun and looks great on your resume.
If you want to join the Novel Novice team in either of the above positions, please respond to the following criteria in an email:
- How much time you have free for blogging:
- Your experience blogging & writing:
- How you discovered Novel Novice:
- Why you’re the perfect fit for this job:
- If given the opportunity, how else would you like to contribute to Novel Novice:
- Anything else:
Please send the responses to all of these prompts to me at email@example.com using the desired job title as your subject line.
